Meet Doris
Doris Mukangu founded DKM Consulting out of a lifelong commitment to community, equity, and the belief that those closest to the challenges often hold the most powerful solutions.
As an immigrant and community leader, Doris witnessed firsthand the barriers that many immigrant and refugee communities face — language access, economic opportunity, cultural isolation, and limited representation in decision-making spaces. Rather than accept these challenges as inevitable, she dedicated her career to building bridges between communities, institutions, and opportunities.
Over the years, Doris has worked at the grassroots level organizing communities, designing programs, and advocating for policies that protect and uplift marginalized voices. Her leadership has helped create spaces where immigrant women can gain skills, confidence, and economic independence while celebrating their cultural identities.
Through DKM Consulting, Doris now shares the lessons she has learned from years of community work to support other organizations and leaders — helping nonprofits, grassroots groups, and social impact initiatives strengthen their capacity, develop sustainable programs, and engage communities in culturally responsive ways.
Impact
In pursuit of deeper change, Doris founded the Amani Women Center, empowering immigrant and refugee women through economic opportunity, cultural expression, and leadership development.
Through initiatives such as sewing training, cultural arts, and community advocacy, the center has become a place where women build not only livelihoods but also belonging and collective strength — a living example of the model Doris now brings to every DKM Consulting partnership.
Doris continues to work at the intersection of grassroots organizing and organizational strategy, helping leaders translate lived experience into structures that last.

Doris's path to this work began long before DKM Consulting — shaped by her own experience as an immigrant navigating unfamiliar systems, language barriers, and the search for belonging in a new country.
That journey is what grounds her approach today: strategy that never loses sight of the human beings behind the data, and leadership development that treats cultural identity as a strength, not a barrier to overcome.
